Equip Mentoring
Our society wants to offer our members a taste of what awaits them after they graduate university by pairing them with a Mentor from a professional field to help them envision their future careers.
This mentoring scheme, established by Equip Mentoring, targets under-represented students within STEM and aims to provide them with genuine skills and networking links to prepare them for future employment.
Many STEM students have not yet had the opportunity to establish a broad network or experience work within an industry, STEM or otherwise, making this relationship between mentor and mentee invaluable in starting their career.
As students in STEM we are often advised to seek mentorship. This is because mentorship can help students to feel more confident in their discipline and help us to envision our future career paths. It can also be a good way to expand your professional network with people more experienced in your chosen
field.
A mentor can help you within your career path or assist you in understanding how to navigate the professional world in general, and so is regarded as key in early career development.
